On this week's episode, we talk about a few things you can do with the Instant Pot, that are a little more intimidating, namely making yogurt, infusing your own vanilla extract, and making cheesecake. Yes, you CAN make a cheesecake in the Instant Pot! We also help our Food Fight listener deal with her condiment conundrum.

Let's taco 'bout it!
- Sharon's immersion blender broke while Ike was making a potato soup (she should've used her BlendTec!). We went to a blogging holiday event this week, and Sharon talked about the Tomato, Basil, and Penne Pasta Salad with bacon, aged parmesan, and IGP balsamic vinegar from Italy. Winter loved winning and eating Beehive Cheese Company's Barely Buzzed and Promontory cheese.
- By the way, Smith's Food and Drug is awesome--they donated so we could do a service project for the Children's Justice Center. If you want to donate to the Children's Justice Center, you can do so here. Thanks, Smith's!
- We've talked about the Instant Pot (IP) in the past with Kathy Hester, and we wanted to delve in a little more to ALL the things you can do with the Instant Pot.
- Winter has the 6-quart Instant Pot 7-in-1 and LOVES it! (Considering a small 3 qt IP for smaller side dishes).
- You can get rid of smells in your IP this way, but the you can also have Instant Pot backup rings.
- How is yogurt made: Milk + live cultures + ideal temperatures. Winter used this recipe for cold start by Frieda Loves Bread. I used Fairlife 2% milk, a tbsp of Fage plain yogurt, sweetened condensed milk, and some heavy cream--it was SO yummy! And put them in pint-sized Ball containers to take yogurt to work.
- We've talked about making your own vanilla extract before with Jason Logsdon from Amazing Food Made Easy during our Infusions discussion, and Sharon has been making her own vanilla extract that she got from Joy the Baker's first cookbook. She used Grey Goose Vodka.
- Winter made a batch per the Tidbits by Marci recipe with Five Wives Vodka and most coveted vanilla beans. (Have you heard about the vanilla bean shortage?)
- I'm excited to try making these other extracts: Lemon and peppermint and almond!
- Winter made this Black Raspberry Cheesecake using this 7-inch springform pan. It was delicious and a lot faster than other cheesecake she's made. This was a pot-in-pot method (forgot to mention this term in the podcast).
- The Science of Good Cooking talks about cheesecakes and the waterbath.
- You can use a foil sling or these fun silicone bands to remove your cheesecake.
